Anna Pigeon Season 1 Episode 7, The Three Matt Skweikis starts with one of the strangest cases Anna has faced yet: a naked man with no memory who appears to be glowing in the dark. What first looks like an encounter with something extraterrestrial instead leads Anna and Frederick Stanton into a 20 year old missing person case involving a mistaken identity, a prison escape and a long-buried murder. Meanwhile, Anna’s personal life becomes even more complicated when her relationship with Frederick crosses a line and Jesse makes an unexpected confession.
Episode Recap
The episode begins with Anna, Frederick and others at the park taking part in a stargazing event. Anna is still keeping her distance from Jesse, while Frederick is much more open to the idea that there may be something beyond Earth.
That conversation takes a bizarre turn when Anna and Frederick nearly hit a naked man who suddenly appears in front of their vehicle. The stranger is covered in an unusual green-blue glow and has no idea who he is. He tells them that he fell from the sky, but he cannot remember his name or where he came from.
Anna and Frederick bring him back to the park office. The stranger becomes known as “Visitor” while they try to figure out his identity. He can speak normally and clearly remembers certain skills and pieces of information, but he cannot recall his own past.
Anna eventually notices that the man’s strange appearance may have a much simpler explanation than aliens. Part of the river has been affected by bioluminescent algae, which could explain the glow on his body.
When Anna and Frederick investigate the area, they find an old pair of boots and a wallet. The wallet belongs to a man named Matt Skweikis.
There is an immediate problem: Matt Skweikis supposedly died around 20 years earlier.
Anna and Frederick contact Matt’s widow, Mira. She explains that Matt disappeared during one of his annual solo camping trips. His remains were eventually found, but the body had been badly damaged by wolves. Because of the condition of the remains, Matt had been identified through personal belongings, including his hat and car keys.
Mira recognizes the boots found near the river. She also tells Anna that one thing was never recovered: Matt’s wedding ring.
That detail stays with Anna. Because she understands what it means to lose someone and be left without answers, she decides to investigate the old campground herself. Anna and Frederick travel to the abandoned camping area and make a disturbing discovery.
They find another body buried in a shallow grave.
The body appears to have been there for roughly two decades, and the victim suffered major head trauma. More importantly, Anna finds Matt’s wedding ring still on the corpse.
This creates the central mystery of the episode. There is the man who was officially identified as Matt 20 years ago, the newly discovered body at Matt’s old campsite, and the mysterious Visitor who was found near Matt’s belongings. For a while, it genuinely looks as though the investigators are dealing with three different people who could somehow be connected to Matt Skweikis.
Who Was the Real Matt Skweikis?
The investigation eventually reveals that the original identification was wrong.
Around the time Matt disappeared, an escaped prisoner named Josiah Hamm was hiding in the area after breaking out of prison. Josiah encountered Matt, killed him and took his clothes and belongings.
Josiah intended to use Matt’s identity to help him escape. But he never got the chance. He became lost in the wilderness and eventually froze to death.
When Josiah’s body was later discovered, the damage caused by the elements and wolves made identification difficult. Since he was carrying Matt’s belongings, investigators assumed that the body was Matt’s.
That explains why Mira had been living with the wrong version of her husband’s death for two decades.
The body Anna discovers in the shallow grave is actually the real Matt Skweikis.
The wedding ring provides the final piece of evidence. Matt was still wearing it when he died, meaning the ring had never been lost in the way Mira had believed. Anna is eventually able to return it to her, finally giving her an answer about what happened to her husband.
Who Is the Glowing Man in Anna Pigeon Episode 7?
The mysterious Visitor turns out to have nothing to do with Matt’s murder.
Anna and Frederick eventually locate a crashed truck and discover that the man’s real name is Monroe King. He had crashed near the park and was thrown from the vehicle before wandering into the wilderness.
His strange appearance also gets a realistic explanation. Monroe had been exposed to cold water and developed severe hypothermia. Anna explains that he likely experienced paradoxical undressing, a condition in which someone suffering from hypothermia can suddenly feel extremely hot and start removing their clothes.
The algae on his body explains the unusual glow.
So the episode’s apparent alien encounter turns out to be the result of a car crash, hypothermia, amnesia and bioluminescent algae.

What Happened to Monroe King?
Recovering Monroe’s identity does not exactly make his situation better.
He remembers that he runs a business connected to cattle breeding and cloning. He had been struggling financially and had also been dealing with problems in his family life. Before the crash, he had gambled away money he needed to repay a client and had missed an important family event.
Monroe had deliberately driven toward what he believed was the end of the road for him. Anna eventually helps him see the crash differently. He survived, and that gives him an opportunity to change what he had been doing with his life.
The storyline also gives the episode a smaller theme that connects with Anna’s own situation: a person can reach a point where their past seems impossible to escape, but surviving that point can create another choice.
Anna and Frederick Finally Get Together
While the investigation continues, Anna and Frederick’s relationship becomes more complicated.
Frederick finally tells Anna that he has been investigating Zach’s case. Anna is surprised, but she does not ask him to stop. The conversation also forces Anna to confront the fact that Frederick’s interest in her is not simply professional.
Later, Anna invites Frederick to her home. He admits that he has feelings for her, and the two sleep together.
But Anna immediately becomes uncomfortable with what happened. Rather than staying and dealing with the situation, she leaves before Frederick wakes up.
When they speak afterward, Anna admits that she is still seeing Jesse. She also acknowledges that she is not very good at expressing what she feels.
Frederick does not force her to make a decision. Instead, the conversation makes it clear that both of them are struggling with the same tendency to keep moving rather than settle anywhere emotionally.
Anna Pigeon Episode 7 Ending Explained
The ending brings together the two main stories: the mystery of Matt Skweikis and Anna’s increasingly complicated personal life.
Anna and Frederick solve Matt’s disappearance by discovering that the man previously identified as Matt was actually Josiah Hamm. Josiah had escaped from prison, killed Matt, stolen his belongings and later died from exposure. Because investigators found Josiah wearing Matt’s possessions, they mistakenly concluded that Matt was the person who had died.
Anna’s discovery of Matt’s actual body means Mira finally learns the truth. More importantly, Anna gives her Matt’s wedding ring, confirming that he was still wearing it when he died.
But Anna’s conversation with Frederick afterward is just as important.
Frederick tells her that he does not want to pretend their night together never happened. Anna admits that when someone gets close to her, her instinct is to run. She is still trying to work out what she wants with Jesse, while Frederick has made his own feelings clear.
Anna decides that she wants to try to work things out with Jesse. However, she does not get much time to process that decision.
When Anna arrives home, Jesse is waiting for her.
He asks Anna to move in with him and tells her that he loves her.
The episode ends with Anna stunned by the confession.
